1. Understand the pride colors
You might all know that the rainbow flag is the universal symbol of the LGBT community. But do you know that there are many more than that? Let’s take a look at some of the most common pride flags you might run across this month and get the meaning of every color on them.
Rainbow flag:
While the original flag (also called the Gilbert Pride Flag) has three colors in total, including pink, which represents sexuality, and turquoise, which equals magic and art, the later version (called the 6-Color Pride Flag) has only six stripes. This flag has been considered the most well-known and widely used LGBT flag throughout history.
Meaning of colors:
Red: life
Orange: healing
Yellow: sun
Green: serenity with nature
Indigo: harmony
Violet: spirit
Trans flag
The Trans Flag was created in 1999 by Monica Helms, a US trans woman. With three simple colors: blue, pink, and white, the flag acts as a fantastic unifier for the transgender community.
While pink is often associated with girls and blue is associated with boys, the white color does not mean the binary of male or female. The central white is in honor of people who are intersex, transitioning, or gender neutral.
Bisexual pride flag:
Bisexual people are those who are sexually attracted to both genders. The meaning of the colors on this flag is quite simple: pink represents attraction to the same gender, blue means attraction to the opposite, and the purple stripe in the middle is the overlap of these two colors, symbolizing sexual attraction to two or more genders.
Pansexual pride flag:
While bisexual people’s attraction can be limited to certain genders, pansexual people are attracted to all genders. Pink and blue, respectively, represent attraction to women and men, and yellow means attraction to non-binary folks.
Non-Binary Pride Flag
Non-binary people are those who identify as both male and female, or neither of them. The four different colors on the non-binary pride flag stand for four different groups in the non binary community:
Yellow: people whose gender doesn’t belong to the binary
White: people with more than one gender
Purple: people with their genders are kind of a mix of male and female
Black: people who don’t have any gender at all
2. How will your pride lashes celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community?
In fact, you can celebrate this Pride Month in many ways: by decorating your home in a Pride theme, wearing a T-shirt with Pride colors, or trying Pride makeup ideas.
The celebration is characterized by colors; therefore, you can creatively integrate the color combinations into your everyday items and activities. What can be better than us, adorable fans of lash extensions, wearing pride lashes, not only to show strong LGBTQ+ support among the lash community, but also to share your ideas of exotic lash sets?
3. Popular pride eyelash extension designs
Rainbow Lashes
This might be the lash set most requested by lash enthusiasts thanks to its eye catching look and iconic rainbow flag inspiration. The idea is simple: mix the six colors of the rainbow flag with the amount of each color to your liking. All you need are colored eyelash extensions in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple, then attach them to the natural lashes in your clients’ preferred styles. The color combination, we promise, will make your eyes really pop.
Trans pride lashes:
For these pride lashes, we recommend using O. Blue and L. Violet eyelash extensions. To add white color to the lash set, silver lashes are the perfect candidate. If you want your lash set to look a bit subtle, our Emerald lashes would be a wiser choice. Featuring a white/blue base and a touch of color at the tips, Emerald Pink and Emerald Blue will give you a seamless color blend effect, creating a unique but not overdramatic appearance.
Bisexual pride lashes:
Compared to the trans flag, the colors of the bisexual pride flag are a bit darker, and so are your lash colors. Whatever colored lash style you need, we’ve always got you covered! If you want to show your support for bisexual people as well as love to add some mystery to your lash look to achieve a sexy appearance, these three colors are the way to go.
Pansexual pride lashes:
Pink, yellow, and blue—we always have them available for you. Besides, you can choose to mix emerald lashes for a fresher and lighter appearance.
Non-Binary pride lashes:
This color mixture is not very subtle but does not go overboard. Yellow, silver, purple, and black lashes will blend harmoniously to give you a unique and exotic lash look.
4. Which style is suitable for pride lashes?
Actually, you can choose any lash style depending on your preference and your eye shape: wispy, cat eye, doll eye,… But when it comes to working with lash colors, there are three main styles:
Full colored lash set:
Fill your lash line with a full set of colored lashes, which will definitely make your eyelashes dramatic and outstanding. If you are the kind of person who is not afraid of being the center of attention, a full-color set is a top-go.
A pop of color:
An interesting style with a playful vibe—a pop of color in the outer eye corner will look best on cat eye eyelash extensions. By placing lashes on the outer corner with the colors you want, it’s not as dramatic as the full set, but prominent enough to not go unnoticed.
Wispy:
Another alternative is the wispy style, in which you can place black spike lashes first and colored lashes in between. The black will give your lash set a little more balance to the colorful lash look.
Embracing diversity and inclusivity in the lash industry
When preference, natural lashes, eye shapes, etc. come into play, one lash set can’t be used over and over again for all clients coming to your lash studio.
As a lash artist, your responsibility is to create a suitable lash look for each client. Pride lashes are no exception. With lash extensions with color, you can endlessly think of unique pride lashes styles to put a satisfying smile on their face when the lash session finishes. We all want to look good and feel good about ourselves. No matter who you are or what your gender identity and sexual orientation are, we always welcome you to the lash community, where we together make us glamorous in our own way.
