In the world of beauty, lashes are more than just a finishing touch. From natural to bold styles, today’s lash lovers are all about making a statement. Whether you’re launching your own lash brand or expanding your product offerings, understanding different types of lash materials is key to standing out in a competitive market.
In this blog, we’re going to dive into different types of lash materials that make a bold, voluminous and dramatic lashes look. We’ll look into what sets them apart, their unique features and why they’re a must-have for your lash business. So – let’s not wait any further and jump right in!
But first of all, what exactly is a dramatic, bold and voluminous style?
A dramatic, bold and voluminous style, as you’ve guessed – whether it’s makeup, fashion or hair – focuses on intensity, statement-making features as well as aesthetics that have a high impact. It is, in other words, all about standing out and exuding confidence.
Hence – a bold, voluminous and dramatic lashes style focuses on intensity, definition, fullness and making the eyes the focal point of your makeup. Some key features of a bold and dramatic lashes look we’re sure you might have come across are maximum volume, long lashes, intense curl, as well as dark and fully defined lash line.
Who is dramatic lashes style for?
This style is pretty much for anyone who is after a bold, voluminous and dramatic lashes effect. But to break the segments down, there can be:
- Clients who are after a dramatic, statement-making look
- Those who want to dress up and stand out for an occasion or a special event
- Those who want to wear a full glam lashes look
So – what lashes can help create a bold, voluminous and dramatic lashes look?
We’ve got to admit – finding the right lash materials that are on trend but also stand the test of time for your collection is no easy feat. For any lash business owner out there who has just started looking in the market, it might be a little bit tricky when it comes to different varieties and types of eyelash materials that exist. Some are called cashmere lashes, some are called silk lashes, and there’s even mink lashes? And if you’re asking yourself out loud like we do – do not worry because we’re going to break it down for you!
So basically, there are mainly three types of eyelash materials on the market. They are glossy, semi-matte and full matte. The reason why there are so many different names for lash materials out there is because there is no standardized way of calling them, so each lash manufacturer comes up with their own naming system. Oftentime, cashmere mink lash extensions made from one manufacturer are not the same cashmere mink produced by another. So we’d suggest the best you can do is to directly contact your potential manufacturers and ask for the desired lash effects that you’re after.
At CharmLash, we also have our own system of calling our lash materials. How we name them depends on how long or short we taper our lash fibers and the effects that come with it. If it’s a short taper, we’ll have a bold, voluminous and dramatic lashes look. And if it’s a long taper, we’ll have a fluffy and natural lashes look. For this article, let’s focus on the short tapered lash look and the unique features that come with it!
Faux Mink

First of all, at CharmLash, we’re against animal cruelty and will not be using any material that’s made of real animal fur or human hair. As one of the most popular trio in the lash industry, our Faux Mink comes with a deep black value and is made of high quality Korean PBT fibers to imitate the softness and the smooth surface of real mink fur. And though synthetic, this lash material is designed to be flexible and lightweight so lash techs and artists can use them for different fanning techniques.
Our Faux Mink lashes are crafted with no gaps in between and also knot-free and kink-free. They come with different thicknesses such as 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, 0.085, 0.10, 0.12, 0.15, 0.18, and 0.20.
Premium Faux Mink

If you’re on the hype for Faux Mink, there’s another version of it for you to choose from – only it’s deeper black, denser and softer. In fact, Premium Faux Mink lashes have the deepest black value in our lash collection.
Made of premium and high quality Korean PBT, Premium Faux Mink is also synthetic. These lash fibers are especially soft and lightweight – and certainly durable for any lash techniques to create volumes and dramatic effects.
Some available thicknesses of our Premium Faux Mink are 0.06, 0.07, 0.1, 0.12, and 0.15.
Cashmere Mink (our new release!)

If you’re after a more matte black, more natural look, Cashmere Mink is a great choice for you! As a recent release, Cashmere Mink (again, these fibers are also synthetic and no way made of real animal fur) is designed so that they still have that deep black hue, but also stand out from other deep black materials like Faux Mink due to their semi-matte finish. This material is also featherlight and soft so lash technicians can easily apply various fanning techniques. This being said, Cashmere Mink can’t be missed out on if you’re vouching for materials just like Faux Mink but give off a more natural and more matte look!
Some different thicknesses of Cashmere Mink are 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, 0.085, 0.10, 0.12, 0.15, 0.18, and 0.20.
Super Silk

Popular in all markets, Super Silk, like how it’s called, is soft and smooth. These lash fibers are refined and tapered so that they can hold on slightly longer than Faux Mink lashes. For the kind of effect it produces, Super Silk is on the matte side, looks and feels more natural than Faux Mink (just like Cashmere Mink!) and can generate voluminous and dramatic lashes effects just like the other three short tapered materials.
As one of our top best sellers, Super Silk comes with a wide variety of thicknesses: 0.03, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, 0.08, 0.1, 0.12, and 0.15.
To sum up, for a bold and dramatic lashes look, we’d like to introduce four materials that do the work. Each of them comes with their own unique features, effects and thicknesses.
