How to Create A Manga Lash Map?
Manga lash map are a twist on the Wet Look, but with their own unique flair. Depending on the spikiness you desire, there are various ways to map and apply Manga Lashes.
The key to Manga Lash Mapping is using closed fans, similar to the Wet Look, but you’ll also mix in regular volume fans to ensure those dramatic spikes really stand out. The closed fans will be the star of the show, and the regular volume fans will keep them from blending together.
Once you have your basic style mapped out, decide where to place your spikes. You can also adjust the spikes according to your client’s preferences. We keep the number of spikes minimal, with one spike per length in each section, to stay true to the Manga art style. However, you can also place spikes more randomly if a less uniform look is preferred.
To finish, fill the spaces between the spikes with shorter fans to create a dark, defined lash line, characteristic of Anime eyes. Use regular fans or easy fanning lashes, which have varying lengths and naturally add density and a wispy texture.
1. Upper lash Line
You might already be familiar with lash mapping, but mastering the manga lash map requires some specific techniques! Let’s divide natural lash by 3 sections: bottom layer, middle layer, top layer
For the top layer, create dramatic spikes using closed fans, placing them next to the shorter, wispy lashes. Ensure the lashes are spaced more widely than in styles like the Wet Lash Set or Kim K looks to make the spikes more prominent and achieve the distinct doe-eyed effect.
And here we got some pro tips for you to master this technique:
- Bottom Layer: Use 0.05 short wispy fans in lengths ranging from 6mm to 10mm. This layer provides lighter lashes, essential for creating the contrasting look desired.
- Middle Layer: Apply 0.05 closed fans in lengths from 8mm to 12mm. This layer should align with the top layer to support the larger spikes.
- Top Layer: Opt for 0.05 closed fans or individual spikes ranging from 10mm to 14mm. Begin with the longest length at the inner corner of the eye and gradually decrease from 14mm to 10mm towards the outer corner.
2. Bottom Lash Line
To achieve the full Manga lash effect, don’t forget the bottom lashes! Applying 0.12 J curl extensions ranging from 6 to 9 mm, in a hybrid style to complete the dramatic Manga look!
Can I Create Manga Lash Map with Classic Eyelash Extensions?
Yes!! Why not? Manga lashes aren’t just for volume fans—they can also be achieved with classic eyelash extensions!
Start by applying classic lashes according to your manga lash map to set the base. For the dramatic spikes that define the manga look, adjust the thickness of the lashes according to their length. Use thicker lashes, like 0.25 mm, for the longer spikes, and finer lashes, such as 0.15 mm, for the shorter ones.
Tailor the lash thickness to your client’s preferences and the safety of their natural lashes, blending both aesthetics and comfort for a stunning result.
Tips for Using Closed Fans in Manga Lash Map
When it comes to Manga lashes, some lash artists add a small amount of clear glue to the tips of closed fans to keep them pointed. This technique is especially useful for competition sets or when the lashes will be removed shortly after. If you choose to use this method, make sure the spikes are kept relatively short to prevent any excess weight from affecting the natural lashes.
Although the glue adds only a tiny amount of weight, it’s easy to accidentally overload if you’re not careful. To create a perfect Manga Lash Map, consider using Premade Spike Lashes with pointed tips, which are already designed to maintain their shape without needing additional glue.

How Long Does Manga Lashes Mapping Last?
Anime lash extensions typically last between 4 to 6 weeks on the upper lash line, while those on the lower lash line usually stay for about 14 days. The duration of the extensions is influenced by the natural growth cycle of your lashes. As your natural lashes shed, the extensions will fall out with them.
To keep your look fresh, it’s recommended to book touch-up appointments with your lash artist every 2 to 3 weeks. Proper aftercare is essential to extend the life of your anime lash extensions.
